Ministers from the Mutual Peace and Security Cooperation Cluster of the Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIPs) Convene in Kigali

Today, Wednesday, 29 January 2025, ministers from the Mutual Peace and Security Cooperation Cluster of the Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIPs), representing Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, met in Kigali, Rwanda. The meeting aimed to review, consolidate, and adopt the outcomes of the Permanent Secretaries/Undersecretaries meetings held earlier in the day, in preparation for the upcoming Heads of State Summit.

In his remarks, Rwanda’s Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta, urged representatives from member states to accelerate the implementation of NCIP projects under the Peace and Security Cluster. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that these initiatives, spearheaded by the Heads of State, are successfully realized, ultimately benefiting citizens as intended.

Dr. Biruta also reiterated the need for each partner state to assess its respective projects, develop comprehensive implementation plans, and execute them within a set timeframe for the collective good of the region.

The Mutual Peace and Security Cooperation Cluster is a key component of the 15th Northern Corridor Integration Projects Heads of State Summit, coordinated by Rwanda. This cluster encompasses critical sectors such as law enforcement, immigration, criminal investigation, and correctional services, playing a vital role in fostering regional stability and security.
