MININTER Enhances Community Policing in Burera and Nyagatare Districts with Key Training on Crime Prevention and Security Cooperation
On Friday 21st March 25, the Ministry of Interior (MININTER) conducted a training session for Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Burera and Nyagatare Districts. The training, organized by MININTER in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP), focused on strengthening cooperation between government institutions and CPCs in crime prevention and security maintenance. The trainees benefited from three key presentations namely Partnership in Policing for a Safer and Resilient Society, Roles of CPCs in Crime Prevention and the Contribution of CPCs to Socio-Economic Transformation. These sessions emphasized the importance of CPCs as a vital link in crime prevention, fostering public confidence, and strengthening trust between law enforcement and communities. The training also highlighted how CPCs have contributed to intelligence-led policing, facilitated targeted operations, and improved emergency response—leading to a notable reduction in crime rates. Following the presentations, participants engaged in discussions and sought clarifications to enhance their understanding. The training concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening community policing as a key strategy in maintaining security and fostering a safer society.
